A show in Barrie: thanks everyone!

So we just performed in Barrie Ontario last night, and what a night it was. When we arrived it was a picture perfect day, sunny, slightly breezy, a little hot. The sun was baking on the outdoor stage, and i was wondering just how i was going to get through the night. As luck would have it, the sun began to set, and as it did, went behind some tall buildings, effectively sheilding us from the suns rays. It was still hot though, and five minutes into our set I was again wondering how i would make it through the set!
Drenched in sweat, we forged ahead, and before long I didnt even notice. The audience was receptive and sang along in all the right places. I just love performing to a mixed audience at an out door festival. It's everyone, from grandpa to little kids, to mom and dads to teenagers. So at some point or another, we hit a chord with someone in the audience. the teens are left astounded by an actual performance with real singers and choreography, even if the music is unknown or old fashioned for them. There was an old man with a cane on Stage right who began to dance with his cane, then would tire and sit. He did this through most of the show, keeping us entertained! During our funky set, a bunch of break dancers approached the front of the stage and began to dance. I loved it! It brought the generations together in a different way, and allowed them to get a little attention too. I don't mind sharing the spotlight a little, I remember a time when i would have killed to be on a stage performing, so I know how it feels. On to the next show, i can't wait!

My First Blog!!

Hi Everyone!! Junkfoodjoey here. This is so exciting!! This is my first blog ever! I can't believe that I am actually doing this. I feel so technical!!

Anyway, it's so amazing to be doing this fantastic show. I have been with the Goodfellas for years, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. It is so fun being on stage and singing in front of people. Seeing the looks on people's faces as they remember the songs from the past and remembering what they were doing when they first heard them!! And all the people that I have performed with.................................they are all so talented. From one side of the continent to the other, it has been a great ride, and I intend on continuing this ride forever!

As time goes by, I will be blogging about the upcoming shows, the places we've been, and where we plan to go. For example, we will be putting on a show in my home town of St. Thomas on Friday, October 23rd, at 8pm at the Elgin Labour Temple. More details to follow, but let's just say it is a pre-Halloween party for grown ups. You won't have to dress up, but it might make the evening more fun (wink wink!) For details on tickets, call Paola at 519-207-0661 or 519-851-9771.
Thanks for reading the blog everyone, and I will be back soon with more info.
Take Care!!

Greaseballs and Wrestlers!

We have been on so many trips and adventures, I am not sure which adventure to tell you about mmmmm..... let me see...
Well I will never forget when us Greaseball /Goodfellas wrestled and beat pro wrestlers Waldo Von Eric, of the Famed wrestling "Von Eric" family a few years back at the Cambridge Fall Fair.
It was a gruelling match just before we performed at the Concert part of the evening...
I openly challenged Waldo and company to a mega tag team event in front of a large crowd before our concert show.
Waldo accepted quickly, with his two other big henchmen boys "The Destroyer" , and Mr Big.
Well things got very heated, and after some threats being shouted by both them, and us Goodfellas, the fight began.
Nephew Vinny was the main protagonist and we also used him as pivotal tug of war rope them pulling his head and neck, us pulling his feet and legs.
Well one thing led to the next, somehow we got the advantage, and Vinny pinned the Destroyer, gee were we lucky Ha Ha Ha.
Some how we won the match, a night I will never forget, I continued to harass Waldo Von Eric telling him we would kick his ass again if he ever showed his face around "Pauly And The Goodfellas"
Well that was a big mistake on my part as Waldo and his Henchmen showed up a week later at the Famed Wonderland Gardens in London Ontario, where me and the Goodfellas were doing our show in front of a large and terrified crowd, as Waldo jumped up on stage grabbed me put me over his shoulders spinning me around and slamming down for the count...
Another crazy night with Pauly And The Goodfellas, I will never forget...
Waldo Von Eric passed away a few years ago and I would like to pay tribute to a great guy a famous and fabulous pro wrestler and one of our many famous friends. God Bless you Waldo, you were one of the Best, we miss and love you...
Just one of my memories with the Boys...
warmest Regards, talk to you all soon

A Summer Performance

We are doing an outdoor Show on Thursday in Richmond Hill at Mill Pond Park.
The band will be there, as well as most of the Goodfellas gang.
The weather is supposed to be nice too so I can't wait! Best part of this show is that it is free! These shows in the park are always kinda neat because the audience mostly doesn't know what to expect.
They see the sign "Pauly and the Goodfellas" show tonight and they just show up!
The reactions from a fresh crowd who don't know what is coming next is priceless.
It is a good way to see if some of the gags are still working as well.
The show has changed over the years in bits and pieces mainly because some things got old, or didn't work anymore.
We used to do an Austin Powers bit but the movies are so old now that a lot of people just didn't get it, so out the window it went!
Of course there's always room to bring some of the silly stuff back again, like when we used to dress like girls and do a Supremes medley...er, but that's another story...
Anyhow if you are free on Thursday at 7pm come over here and be entertained!

Fans

I'm a Fan Fan!

I just love fans, no not the air blowing kind, the type that come to your show and tell you all about how many times they have come to see your show. No matter how my week has been or what bad vibes there may be going around, a good interaction with a fan can pull you out of it.
I'm always puzzled by acts that don't treat their fans well. maybe they think that they're too big to care about them. We did a show in Fergus Ontario last Saturday and although it rained most of the day, it cleared up during our first set and so the small crowd of sit in the rain die hards began to grow larger and larger. After the show some of us went out to an autograph table to interact with the audience. An older couple approached us and told us how much they had enjoyed our show, and would we take some pictures with them. Well of course we did! It was a crappy rainy day and these folks stood in the rain to watch us carry on. I really loved taking those photos, because I know how the people will laugh at them later, carrying the good feelings from our show to others. They also bought our Cd, which we all signed, maybe it will be worth a million bucks someday?
We also signed the hats of some cute girls, they had been at the Trooper concert there the night before and of course they didn't sign anything!
There were many other acts at this show, and they arrived on their humongus tour buses with their entourages, and they had their product on the signing table, but they didn't interact with their fans either onstage or off. Too bad.

First Post! welcome!

Hi everyone and Welcome to the Pauly and Goodfellas Blog.

For many years I have wanted to let people in on some of the crazyness that make being a performer with Pauly and the Gooodfellas so much fun. Little things such as backstage antics all the way to crazy adventures with wildlife, the police, fans, agents, venues and traveling.

The silly things that happen on the road are really endless!
Often when I tell my friends some of the stories about what has occurred on gigs, they often don't even believe me, and sometimes I don't blame them!
So I've created this page to document the stories and to include pictures to prove the silliness wherever possible.
So here we are on page one! Please feel free to add your stories of the Goodfellas here as well, I'd Love to hear them!
